A long anticipated science computer lab at Clovis East High School will finally be completed, thanks to community support for McCaffrey Homes’ tree lighting fundraiser, which benefitted Clovis and Central Unified schools. The fundraiser, where the public was asked to sponsor a $10 light on McCaffrey’s Christmas tree, brought in more than $16,000 in community donations, with $6,700 of that going toward the Clovis East science computer lab. The funds allow the school to purchase 24 additional computer stations and 10 full-sized work tables. The lab was launched in 2008 by a $10,000 grant and now will have a total of 40 computer stations and 20 work tables. “The computer lab will be used by all 2,136 of our students and will significantly increase individual student technology opportunities,” said Don Van Ness, general science teacher at Clovis East High School. “Our students’ current and future educational success, as well as their employment options, will be directly affected by McCaffrey Homes’ generous gift. In addition the science computer lab will pay educational dividends for current Clovis East students and their younger siblings for many years to come. Other money from the McCaffrey fundraiser went to different schools in the Clovis and Central Unified school districts, and will be used to buy playground equipment, fund Central Unified’s Summer Library Reading Program, and more. “We’re so grateful to the community for contributing to this important fundraiser,” said Lauren McCaffrey Knowlton, vice president of marketing for McCaffrey Homes. “At McCaffrey Homes, we have a strong commitment to giving back to our community, and it’s wonderful that the public steps up with donations for our annual tree lighting fundraiser each year as together we can help provide a brighter future for our children.” For three generations, McCaffrey Homes has been exceeding homeowners’ expectations with award-winning designs and included features, quality, and service. McCaffrey Homes just received national recognition in the Eliant 2012 Homebuyers’ Choice Awards, garnering top honors in quality and customer service from a survey of homebuyers all over the U.S. and Canada. McCaffrey Homes won 1st place for “First Year Quality Construction” from a survey of more than 170 major homebuilders across the U.S. and Canada. The surveys were conducted by Eliant, one of the homebuilding industry’s most respected customer research firms. This is the third consecutive year that McCaffrey has been honored in the Homebuyers’ Choice Awards. |
