The McCafrey Group's new headquarters at Van Ness Blvd. and Herndon Avenue has been recognized by the city of Fresno as an asset to the City. The building was honored in the 5th Annual Orchid Awards for “presenting an extraordinary example of pleasing aesthehtic architecture.” The McCaffrey headquarters building won the award in the category of Best Aesthetic Presentation for Office/Commercial Architecture, presented to Bob and Karen McCaffrey, and architect Warren Thompson of T-Squared Architects, at a ceremony in the council chambers on Tuesday, October 25.

The Orchid Awards recognize homes, offices, commercial projects, and multi-family dwellings for aesthetic landscaping and architecture. The Orchid Awards program was instituted by Councilmember Brian Calhoun to reward people for beautifying the city within his district, District 2. The winners were selected by a committee of City employees, the private sector and District 2 constituents.

“I was pleased to present Mr. McCaffrey with my 2005 Orchid Award for Commercial Architecture. The McCaffrey Group building has become a pinnacle structure in Northwest Fresno, and the community has a high regard for its aesthetic architecture – as evidenced by the 3 separate nominations submitted by members of the community. The McCaffrey’s building is a testament to the McCaffrey Group’s dedication to improving the beauty of Fresno through innovative development. It was enjoyable to recognize a building that provides inspiration to the community, and is a capstone of the ideal commercial commitment to community improvement,” said Councilmember Brian Calhoun.

The 13,000 square-foot headquarters houses The McCaffrey Group and its home construction, mortgage and realty divisions. The building is characterized by dramatic Italian architecture embellished with dramatic stone rotundas, elegant columns and a stone fountain at the entrance.

“We’re best known in the Valley for building quality homes and communities, but it’s also nice to be recognized for creating a commercial project that helps to beautify the City. As residents of Fresno ourselves, it’s gratifying to receive an award that recognizes the appeal of building and its architecture,” said Robert McCaffrey, president of The McCaffrey Group.

The McCaffrey Group is currently selling its classic Hampton Renaissance community in Northwest Fresno, and a VIP priority list is now forming for the upcoming Hampton Renaissance neighborhood at Loma Vista in Clovis. Both communities offer a selection of seven innovative floorplans with up to six bedrooms and 3,443 square feet. The company will soon add One Opus Drive, a community of 21 custom homesites in Northeast Fresno, to its list of neighborhoods.
