McCaffrey Homes' Takes Gold Nugget Grand Award at Pacific Coast Builder's Conference

For the second consecutive year, McCaffrey Homes has been honored with a Gold Nugget Grand Award, this year winning for the Oak Knoll plan from the Madison Place collection. The award, which recognizes those who improve communities through exceptional concepts in design, planning and development, was presented at the 47th Annual Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) in San Francisco on June 10.

The Oak Knoll was honored in the category of Best Single Family Detached Home, 2,000 to 3,000 Square Feet on a Conventional Lot. Aesthetic merit, innovation and effectiveness in design/planning are the key judging criteria.

In honoring our Oak Knoll plan, the juding committee described the home as "a great straight forward one story residence. It uses its ample site very well. Creating a courtyard and generous entry porch that for a home of this size makes it very gracious. The exterior courtyard on the back makes this indoor outdoor space very useful and relaxed inside and out."

The award distinguishes this home design from a very competitive field of 440 entries. Kevin L. Crook Architects, Inc., of Irvine designed the plan. "This compact plan was developed for flexibility to have the broadest possible market appeal," said Crook.

Last year, McCaffrey Homes received top honors with the Gold Nugget Grand Award for the Genoa design at Palmina in Clovis in the category of Outstanding Single Family Detached Home under 2,500 square feet.

The oldest and largest program of its kind in the United States, the Gold Nugget competition honors creative achievement in architectural design and land use. Judges include some on the industry's finest architects, planners and builders, in addition to industry press, and nationally recognized marketing and market research consultants.
