The McCaffrey Group Awarded 2007 Energy Star Award

The McCaffrey Group was honored by the United States Environmental Protection Agency with the 2007 Energy Star Outstanding Achievement Award in April.  The award recognizes the contributions that the local builder has made to energy-efficient construction and environmental protection by building more than 150 Energy Star qualified homes last year.  This is the third consecutive year that The McCaffrey Group has earned the Achievement Award from the EPA by having built over 500 Energy Star qualified homes.

Energy Star-qualified homes are independently verified to be 15 percent more efficient than the state energy code and 30 percent more efficient than the national energy code. These savings are based on heating, cooling, and hot water energy use. According to the  EPA, Energy Star-qualified homes increase homeowner comfort with tighter construction, which eliminates drafts, blocks the entry of airborne pollutants, pests, and moisture, and reduces outside noise, all while maintaining the desired temperature throughout the house.  This is achieved with special framing techniques used in conjunction with improved insulation systems to eliminate most construction voids.

"As a local builder, we're concerned about the community and the environment," said Brent M. McCaffrey, Vice President of Construction of The McCaffrey Group.  “Conservation efforts help preserve the valley’s resources and creates smart communities for current and future residents.  We’re happy to do our part to help.”

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, with the help of Energy Star partners, Americans saved enough to power 25 million homes.  Through these savings, it also avoided greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 23 million cars.

The Energy Star designation was created by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1992 and is jointly implemented with U. S. Department of Energy.  The program has been expanded over the years to include more than 40 product categories that conserve energy and protect the environment.  Various items bearing the designation include homes, appliances, computers and mortgages.

The McCaffrey Group is currently selling its Energy Star rated Hampton Renaissance homes at Treviso in Northwest Fresno and at Loma Vista in Clovis.
